.NET Open Space Süd in Ulm/Blaustein


Vergangenes Wochenende war ich in Blaustein bei Ulm und nahm dort am ersten .NET Open Space Süd teil. Diese „Konferenz“ wurde nach dem Open-Space-Konzept organisiert, das ich bereits von den XP2008- und XP2009-Konferenzen kannte. Das Programm steht nicht im vorhinein fest, sondern die Teilnehmer schlagen Themen vor. Je nachdem, ob sich jemand für ein Thema interessiert, wird dafür ein Slot zugewiesen.

Die Auswahl der Themen war groß. Darunter waren .NET-spezifische Themen wie Silverlight, WCF, ASP.NET MVC, F#, WPF, Expression Blend, TFS, Workflow Foundation, usw. Auch andere Themen wurden behandelt wie Scrum, Gettings Things Done, DDD (Domain-Driven Design), AOP (Aspect-oriented Programming), ORM (Object-relational Mapper), SOLID Principles, Clean-Code-Developer (CCD), Datenbanken ohne Schema, usw.

Ich musste mich oft zwischen mehreren Sessions entscheiden. Am Samstag nahm ich dann an folgenden Diskussionen teil: DB ohne Schema, F#, IoC/DI (IoC-Container und Dependency Injection) und Build-Management/CruiseControl.NET.

Am Abend fand im Sportheim des SV Arnegg, der während des Events für unser leibliches Wohl sorgte, eine Grillparty statt. Nach Einbruch der Dunkelheit überraschte uns eine Bauchtänzerin und später folgte eine Feuershow.

Am Sonntag ging das Programm weiter. Ich nahm zunächst an einer Session teil, die mit dem Titel “Testen/NUnit/UI-Testing” angekündigt wurde. Die Diskussion verlagerte sich dann zu sehr in Richtung UI-Testing, wodurch das Thema TDD und NUnit auf der Strecke blieb. Leider viel zu spät verließ ich den Raum und nahm an der letzten halben Stunde der Session über das MVVM-Muster (Model-View-ViewModel) teil.

Anschließend ging ich zur CCD-Runde. Stefan Lieser, einer der Initiatoren dieses Projekts, stellte dabei das Konzept Clean-Code-Developer vor. Danach ging’s um aspekt-orientiertes Programmieren (AOP), vor allem mit PostSharp.

Am Schluß stellte Albert Weinert seine Idee für ein Code .NET Open Space vor. Für mich klang das sehr nach einem Coding Dojo. Ich bin jedenfalls gespannt, was daraus wird.

Einige interessierten sich für Themen aus dem Mono-Umfeld, z.B. .NET-Crossplattform-Entwicklung mit Mono oder Moonlight. Leider fand sich dann niemand, der seine Erfahrungen einbringen konnte.

Das Open-Space-Konzept gefällt mir, auch wenn nicht alles perfekt war. Häufig wurden mehrere Themen zusammengewürfelt, wenn sie – oberflächlich betrachtet – zusammenhängen. Beispielsweise ist NUnit ein Unit-Test-Framework und passt nicht zu den Themen “Testing” und “UI-Testing”, wenn es gar nicht um Unit-Tests geht. Die dabei entstandene Session hat offensichtlich sogar die Session-Owner abgeschreckt, denn die sind erst gar nicht erschienen.

Alles in allem war es eine gelungene Veranstaltung und ich konnte einige interessante Leute kennenlernen. Vielen Dank an Thomas Schissler und Alexander Zeitler für die tolle Organisation dieses Events. Ich freue mich schon auf den .NET Open Space in Leipzig oder vielleicht 2010 wieder in Ulm.
